Back to Female Impersonator Sheet Music Intro

Burt Shepard

1856-1913

From the early 1900s
a minstrel and vaudeville and UK music hall performer who, per the LOC bio
below began as a female impersonator. That he "began" as one does not
tell us how extensive that was. So I would hesitate to use the term
'female impersonator.'
He recorded about three dozen 78 rpm records, many of which can
be found to hear on YouTube. Though I found none with a female
perspective.

Note, I could find Very few images of Shepard, and none as a performer

but there are lots of images of his 78 rpm recordings
